The West Bengal politics took an interesting turn with a few BJP leaders returning to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s TMC after the election result.
Legislators shifting their loyalty to the ruling party is not a new thing. We have seen the practice on several instances. The same happened in West Bengal too. Before the elections, the saffron party had projected that election win would be a cake walk for the party.
Proving the predictions wrong, Mamata Banerjee’s party emerged victorious in the elections for the third time that too with a number majority.
TMC veteran Mukul Roy, who joined the BJP before the elections along with his son Subhranshu had returned to TMC and a few more leaders are expected to take his path.
Reacting sharply to this, BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly has approved the Speaker seeking the disqualification of Roy as MLA.
The other leaders who are gearing up to join the BJP are getting ready for the by elections thinking that the BJP would disqualify them by hook or crook. If the same happens, we might witness an interesting political battle in West Bengal. Let us wait and see what happens.
