TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu had said that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has been found as the weak leader in the state.
He said the ruling YSR Congress leaders were blackmailing Jagan for the cabinet berths and the composition of the new cabinet indicates the weakness of the chief minister.
Chandrababu Naidu expected a sort of revolt in the YSR Congress any time in the near future.
He also predicted exodus from the YSR Congress to other parties ahead of the 2024 general elections.
But the big question is Jagan Mohan Reddy a weak leader compared to Chandrababu Naidu?
Jagan had won the 2019 elections winning 151 seats in the House of 175, while Chandrababu Naidu’s strength was reduced to 23 MLAs.
Jagan is in his 40s, and energetic while Chandrababu Naidu is in his 70s with aging disadvantage.
Jagan has the backing of 48 per cent of the people, while Naidu enjoys the support of a little more than 40 per cent.
Jagan had proved his strength in the local body elections where his party had won more than 80 per cent of the elections.
On the other side, Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP had lost even in his home constituency, Kuppam. The party could not improve its vote base after the defeat of Nara Lokesh at Mangalagiri in 2019 elections.
Taking all these aspects into consideration, one can easily answer who is the weak leader in Andhra Pradesh.
