Though he has been made the president of the Andhra Pradesh unit of the Telugu Desam Party, stalwart Kinjarapu Atchen Naidu’s position in the party, it appears, is no more important than the 12th player in a cricket team. He is being continuously sidelined in the party despite the fact that he is the state president of AP, where alone the TDP has some stakes.
Atchen Naidu family is very important for the TDP in the north Andhra region as there are two MLAs and one MP from this family. Also, this is the only TDP political family, which has managed to win all the seats it had contested in the 2019 elections when Jagan tsunami swept the state. In fact, Atchen’s daughter Adireddy Bhavani is the only woman MLA in the TDP now. Yet, the pro-TDP media is ignoring him. In fact, in the recent organisational rejig of the party, all the names recommended by Atchen Naidu have been consigned to the dustbin.
Sources say there are two reasons why the pro-TDP media and the TDP establishment is ignoring him. The coterie feels that young MP from the family, K Rammohan Naidu could be a potential threat to Nara Lokesh. Naidu speaks articulately and talks sense. His speeches in Parliament in both Hindi and English are widely appreciated. . The pro-TDP media feels that giving coverage to Rammohan Naidu could actually endanger Nara Lokesh Babu’s position in the party.
