Why is everyone talking about Megastar Chiranjeevi?

Is Mega Star Chiranjeevi, whose political foray in 2009 ended in a disaster and then died a premature death with his PRP merging in the Congress, again looking to become active in politics again? Several perceptive political observers feel that had Chiru entered politics in 2014 instead of 2009, the result would have been different.

But, Chiru kept a low profile after his Rajya Sabha term ended in 2018. He focused on films rather than politics. But, of late, several political parties appear to be courting Chiranjeevi. Rumours about a possible return to politics have picked pace ever since he shared dais with PM Modi at Bhimavaram and later with Bandaru Dattatreya at the recent Alai Bhalai programme in Hyderabad.

To add grist to the rumour mill, Chiru’s latest flick has a lot of politically loaded dialogues. One such dialogue says that politics is not leaving even if he wanted to leave them. Even during the promotion campaign of his latest flick Godfather, Chiru talked about supporting his brother Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena.

Meanwhile, there is also a buzz that several Kapu MLAs from the YSRCP too are said to be in touch with Chiranjeevi. Even now, regardless of political parties, many Kapu politicos feel that Chiru is the best bet for them. Sources say that many Kapu MLAs from East and West Godavari are said to be hedging their bets on Chiru. Let’s wait and watch how things unfold in the coming days.
