Nationally reputed boards like CBSE and ICSE have announced that they are canceling their 10th class board exams and that they are postponing their 12th board exams, in light of the second wave of Coronavirus.
Many state boards, including the Tamil Nadu and Telangana state boards, have done the same, by canceling the 10th exams and postponing the 12th exams. However, the government of Andhra Pradesh doesn’t seem to want to do this at any cost. The AP government continues to maintain that it would conduct both the 10th and 12th exams as per schedule, in May.
On the other hand, 16 states of the country, including Telangana, have imposed restrictions in movement, by imposing partial lockdowns, weekend lockdowns, or night curfews. The AP government though doesn’t seem to be concerned about controlling the spread of Coronavirus in the state at all.
Over 10 Lakh students are set to write 10th and 12th board exams. Not postponing the exams would lead to a huge outbreak of Coronavirus in the state, one that would be very difficult to control. No matter how many pleas and requests have been made to the government so far, there has been no response from the AP government. Nobody knows why the AP government continues to remain stubborn about conducting exams during a pandemic outbreak.
