Squadron Leader Siddharth Vashisht died in a helicopter crash in Budgam district, Jammu and Kashmir. Today, his funeral has been held in Chandigarh with full military honours.
Two days ago, Siddharth’s remains had arrived at the Air Force station in Chandigarh on a service aircraft and took to the funeral ground in Sector 44 on a bedecked IAF vehicle.
His wife, Aarti, is also a squadron leader, and she wore a uniform during the funeral. The scene was heart-breaking to watch and the crowd was in tears looking at Aarti.
The Indian Air Force conducted a gun salute in the presence of its officials and the civil administration. Even Chandigarh BJP president Sanjay Tandon and Haryana Minister Naib Saini were present during the funeral.
