The Congress Party appears deeply divided over master poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s entry into the party. Despite his stunning successes in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, a strong section of the party feels that his entry would pose more problems than it solves. They are strongly opposing the entry of Prashant Kishor.
Mainly the so called G 23, the group that has been demanding internal democracy in the Congress have been strongly opposing. Recently, they met at the residence of senior leader Kapil Sibal and discussed the issue of PK’s entry. However Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi seem to be in favour of PK’s joining. If sources are to be believed, the final decision on PK’s joining will be taken by Sonia Gandhi in a day or two. Sources said that even Priyanka Gandhi is open to PK’s entry as she has already worked with him in the UP assembly elections.
However, several seniors feel that PK is known to want to have his finger on every pie and wants to control everything. This will upset the well-established system in the party, they feel.
Meanwhile there are reports that PK may be given a campaign duty and would be made incharge of the campaign of the party in an independent capacity. He would be reporting only to the Gandhi family and none else. However, PK has already quit from the Congress campaign in Punjab and he has indirectly indicated that he would not be part of the UP campaign next year. The congress seniors feel that PK is more a liability than an asset. The final call on PK issue would be taken in a couple of days, said sources.
