Will TPCC chief Revanth Reddy’s Indravelli challenge end up as a very risky experiment? Or will he prove his strength by mobilizing the tribals in huge numbers at Indravelli? Both the Congress leaders and the leaders of other parties are keenly watching Revanth Reddy’s moves.
Recently, Revanth Reddy has challenged that he will hold a meeting in tribal-dominated Indravelli with over one lakh tribals. Though he has made the challenge, the ground situation in and around Indravalli appears to be very challenging. Revanth doesn’t seem to have the much-needed support from the local leaders and cadres. The ground situation appears to be different.
Local Congress heavyweight from hanapur, Rathod Ramesh, has only recently joined the BJP. Similarly, Asifabad’s Congress biggie Atram Sakku has joined the TRS. Sirpur’s Congress contested candidate Palwai Harish has joined the BJP. Bellampalli’s contested Congress candidate and former minister G Vinod is inactive these days and is said to be spending more of his time in Hyderabad. Chennuru’s defeated candidate Nethagani Venkatesh is also now in the TRS camp. Thus, the party does not have credible leaders. Given this, mobilizing crowds is a big challenge.
A defiant Revanth has asked MLA Sitakka to take the responsibility of making the meet a success. He feels that given Sitakka’s Naxal background, she can mobilize the crowds for the Indravelli meet. At the same time, Revanth Reddy has asked Lambada leaders – former minister Balaram Naik, Bellaiah Naid and Ramulu Naik to mobilize the crowds for the meeting. Sitakka has camped in Indravelli for the last one week to make the programe a success. Let’s wait and see if Revanth’s gamble pays off.
