Generally when biopics are made, any filmmaker needs to take the consent of the particular personality. Also to avoid unnecessary things post release, a filmmaker should also disclose what he is going to show on the big screen. To make everything simpler, it’s better to hand over the complete script to the person or family members related to him/her. Post getting an approval, the biopic hits the sets.
A director needs to be little extra cautious when it comes to making a film on political leader. Because, their family members will be keenly observing each and every aspect of the film’s script. However, the biopic made on late YS Rajasekhar Reddy had things the opposite way. None from the family read the script and more surprisingly YS Jagan did not show any interest at least for having a glance.
Director Mahi V Raghav met Jagan couple of times, when the politician was on ‘padayatra.’ After showing the first look and teaser, Mahi tried to take Jagan’s time and narrate the whole script. To him, Jagan reportedly said, “As a director you have already created your imagination to show the film in a peculiar way. I don’t want to change the vision of your’s by listening to the script. Do as you like it.”
Revealing the much anticipated suspense of Jagan’s role in ‘Yatra,’ director Mahi said, “I did not want to deviate the subject of YSR’s historic ‘padayatra’ and so Jagan’s role is sidelined.”
