YSRCP to focus on RRR in Parliament session

The YSRCP MPs are gearing up for the upcoming session of Parliament. The YSRCP will focus mainly on the issue of disqualification of renegade MP Raghuramakrishnam Raju during this session. The YSRCP has already met Speaker Om Birla several times and is likely to press for RRR’s disqualification.

RRR has been a thorn in the flesh of the YSRCP due to his no-holds-barred comments against pYS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the party. He made vituperative comments against Jagan and questioned his leadership. The YSRCP booked cases and got him arrested. But, Raju got bail within no time and is continuing with his attacks. The YSRCP has threatened to stage protests inside the house and disrupt the proceedings seeking his disqualification.

Speaker Om Birla has expressed displeasure at the YSRCP’s decision. He has gone on record saying that the law will take its own course and that he cannot give a running commentary on a day-to-day basis on the issue. The YSRCP MPs feel that the Speaker was biased towards RRR. They are likely to meet the Speaker again on Saturday.

In addition, the YSRCP is also likely to raise the issue of the privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The party is likely to oppose the move in Parliament. The YSRCP wants to ensure that it should not lose initiative on this issue and should not cede ground to the TDP. Sources say that the party will also strive to get approaval for the Disha Act, which the Jagan government considers to be very important. The party is also getting ready to grill the government on the fixation of the jurisdiction of the Krishna River Management Board. The focus however, would mainly be on the Raghuramakrishnam Raju issue.
