You might have woke up today to the memes and satires on social media asking women to take good care of their husbands. And the memes add, if they don’t take good care, then these husbands are likely to join the sadhus and turn away from societal life forever.
Well, the reason behind these memes is this. To achieve spiritual growth, few people turn to Naga Sadhus who live in an extreme life, living in the forests naked and doing dhyaan most of the time. This year on the eve of Kumbh, on the Mauni Amavasya day, nearly 10,000 young men and women are getting ready to turn Sadhus.
Shocking thing is that this group of 10,000 people getting inducted into the sect of Sadhus has software engineers, marine biologists, management graduates and also students. Not just some Hindus from India, but there are men and women from Muslim and Christian community as well, and from counties like Ukraine and Malaysia as well, who are gonna take the holy dip.
Let alone taking this holy dip will not make them Sadhus, however. They have to go through some rigorous practices to kill their egos and sexual desires. Once they attain that status, they will be permanently made Sadhus. Until then, these newcomers will be doing social work in the Himalayas.
