20 Congress MLAs disgruntled with JD(S): BJP Ex CM

Sending shock waves to the JD(S) government in Karnataka, Karnataka BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa stated that 20 Congress MLAs have been upset with the party’s coalition with the ruling party. ”They might take any decision at any time. Let us wait and watch,” he told, speaking to mediapersons.

”It is clear that nothing is right between the Congress and the JD(S),” Yeddyurappa said, expressing confidence in the BJP’s win in the Lok Sabha elections. He also added that three independent legislators too are extending support to the saffron party.

However, many political observers question the timing of BSY’s statements as the party is not in power. ”Why would any ruling party coalition MLA defect to a party in Opposition? It doesn’t hold any water,” says a political analyst, adding that it could just be the BJP’s strategy to create tension in the alliance.

It is heard that the party, even now, is trying to stake claim of the government if it can scuttle the alliance between the JD(S) and Congress. In the Karanataka Assembly with 224 seats, BJP has 104 MLAs, Congress 77, JD(S) 37 legislators. Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj Party has one candidate and another independent are supporting the ruling coalition.
