‘Liger’ Loss Casts Shadow Over ‘Double iSmart’ Release

The upcoming release of ‘Double iSmart’, directed by Puri Jagannadh and starring Ram Pothineni, is facing significant challenges due to the lingering effects of the box office disaster ‘Liger’. The film, scheduled for release on August 15th, is encountering hurdles in securing adequate theatrical space.

Key distribution players, including Asian Sunil and Dil Raju, who suffered substantial losses from ‘Liger’, are reportedly reluctant to allocate a significant number of screens to ‘Double iSmart’. Their preference leans towards Ravi Teja’s ‘Mr. Bachchan’, which is also slated for the same release date.

The pre-release business for ‘Double iSmart’ has been impacted by these developments, with discussions ongoing between the film’s producers and distributors. The Nizam rights, though sold to Warangal Seenu, have encountered payment issues, further complicating matters.

The intense competition for screens, coupled with the looming shadow of ‘Liger’, has created a challenging environment for the ‘Double iSmart’ team. With multiple big-ticket releases lined up, including Bollywood films, the pressure is mounting to resolve these issues promptly.
