Earlier yesterday, it was heard that the makers of Chiranjeevi’s Acharya are planning to drop an official update on the release date of the film. It was said that Acharya would be announced for theatrical release on 7th January next year. But the latest updates suggest that the makers of Acharya have backtracked on the release date announcement. They are said to have decided not to drop any update on the release date for the time being. They are willing to play the wait and watch game amidst rumors that the third wave of Covid is not too far from now. Moreover, the makers intend to officially announce the release date only after the shooting is complete. They don’t want to rush the release date announcement in any which way.
Picking the optimal release date is not going to be a straightforward task for the makers of Acharya as all the major holiday seasons have been locked by Telugu biggies already. RRR has picked Dasara season. The film will be out in theaters on 13th October and the entire Indian film industry is hoping that the Rajamouli directorial will revive the severely affected theatrical business in the country.
Pushpa has locked Christmas release. The likes of KGF 2 and Laal Singh Chaddha are also eyeing the Christmas season. The competition at the box office during the Sankranthi season needs no introduction. Three biggies, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Radhe Shyam, and Pawan Kalyan and Rana’s Ayyappanum Koshium remake are releasing during the Sankranthi season. Acharya will have to pick the best possible release date at the earliest if it is to get at least a reasonably good theatrical outing date. The makers of the Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan starrer are well aware of the same and they are contemplating a few possible release windows. The final call will be taken sooner or later and an official announcement will be made correspondingly.
Ram Charan had already wrapped up his portion of Acharya and Chiranjeevi will also be back in action very soon. The Koratala Siva directorial features Kajal Aggarwal and Pooja Hegde in the female lead roles.
