Disney+ Hotstar announced its slate of seven Bollywood films yesterday that will premiere like multiplex from July to October consecutively.
Among these four films are projects undertaken by Disney production while three are outside acquisitions. The four films bankrolled by Disney Fox and scheduled to be premiered from July onwards are Laxmmi Bomb, Sadak 2, Dil Bechara and Lootcase. The other three include Bhuj: The Pride Of India, The Big Bull and Khuda Haafiz. The first film would be Dil Bechara, premiering on July 24th to mark Sushanth’s invaluable contribution to film industry.
All the lead actors of the films attended the virtual press conference on June 29 that features Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Abhishek Bachchan etc. But it was learnt that Kunal Khemu and Vidyut Jammwal who had their films too have skipped the conference. The meet was hosted by Varun Dhawan appointed by Sunil Rayan, the president of Disney hotstar+.
Vidyut Jammwal, whose film Khuda Haafiz was in the list of films, took to his twitter and shared his discontent by saying, “A BIG announcement for sure!! 7 films scheduled for release but only 5 are deemed worthy of representation. 2 films, receive no invitation or intimation. It’s a long road ahead. THE CYCLE CONTINUES.”
Also Kunal Khemu who had been off the radar was infuriated the way the digital platform organised the conference without giving much importance to him and his film. Although Kunal Khemu insinuatingly expressed his view, it was obvious that he was targeting Disney Hotstar+ production and the host.
“Respect and love can never be asked for, but only earned. If someone doesn’t offer you, it doesn’t make you small. Just give us a same proportion of playing field, we’ll show you how high we can leap),” he tweeted.
