The Mumbai police have been investigating into the TRP ratings scam of various channels based in Mumbai. A couple of Marathi channels have been found to be a part of this scam, and the owners of these channels have been arrested by the police as well.
Now, popular TV host Arnab Goswami’s channel, Republic TV has also been brought into this controversy. It has been reported that investigation into the TRP ratings of Republic TV has also been begun by the Mumbai police, after Republic TV’s announcement saying that BARC has reported the highest number of ratings for Republic TV this month.
Upon investigation, the fact that barometers and rating meters have been tampered with, for Republic TV, after the concerned personnel were paid to make sure that Republice TV gets the most number of TRP ratings. Usually, TRP ratings mostly affect a channel’s number of advertisements. If the channel is on top, it gets the most number of ads.
The Mumbai police is said to have suspected Republic TV’s involvement with TRP ratings scam, after Arnab has been constantly attacking Maharashtra politicians and the Mumbai police department. On the other hand, Arnab Goswami has rubbished these reports, and said that he is ready to go to court and file a defamation case against the Mumbai police, for false information.
