Right after the release of first song ‘Nee Kannu Neeli Samudram’, Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty’s ‘Uppena’ had a lot of buzz surrounding it. It went on increasing with every song and trailer release. Due to all the big names attached and the positive vibe around it, people expected ‘Uppena’ to become a good hit but it surpassed everyone’s expectations and turned into a blockbuster.
The emotional love story completed its first week run at the box-office and it collected a share of 37.91 crores worldwide. It minted 11.55 crores in the Nizam area and 5.6 crores in the Ceeded region, The Uttarandra region earned 6.23 crores while East and West Godavari districts’ collections summed up to 5.76 crores.
While the Krisha district’s collections were 2.39 crores, it got 1.28 crores from the Nellore area. On the whole, the collections in the Telugu states summed up to 34.91 crores. The money from the Rest of India amounted to 2.1 crores, the overseas fetched 90 lakhs. On the whole, it got a share of 37.91 crores which is very huge for a film that marks the debut of hero, heroine and the director.
The film stood behind ‘F2’ which earned 42.7 crores in its first week. It seems like ‘Uppena’ may touch the 50 crore mark by the end of its theatrical run and post the best numbers for a debut hero film in Tollywood.
