Don’t Go To Private Hospitals, Says KCR

Even as there have been largescale complaints from the people on the functioning of government hospitals and lack of proper facilities at them to treat Covid-19 patients, Telangana CM KCR on Friday gave a strange call to the people.

He called upon the people having Covid-19 symptoms not go to the private hospitals and spend huge amounts for the treatment, as the required medical treatment for the disease was very much available in the government hospitals.

“The government doctors and staff are well equipped to treat any number of patients. Don’t rush to private hospitals and spend huge amounts of money and face a lot of hardships,” KCR said after a review meeting with the officials.

He said best treatment was being given in the government hospitals based on the guidelines issued by the ICMR. In case anyone has symptoms, they should take medical advice and treatment.

“All hospitals, right from primary health centres to Gandhi Hospital, facilities are created to treat the Corona patients, who should utilise the same. The government is ready to spend any amount of money to contain the virus and give treatment to the needy,” he said.

He said Covid-19 was not confined to only Telangana, but was there in all the countries in the world and all the states in the country.

“When compared to the national average, the state’s death rate is less. The recovery rate in the State is also much higher,” KCR claimed.

The chief minister said private hospitals should maintain transparency in the availability of beds. The government will act strictly if artificial shortage is created.

“They should display at every hospital how many beds they have and how many are occupied. They should give information to the government from time to time,” he said.
