AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is in the quest of joining the NDA. On the other side, the investigations on the cases that have been filed for years on the AP CM seem to have speeded up. Reports are out that predominantly the case of disproportionate assets on YS Jagan will be prosecuted in the ED court on Friday.
It is known that the High Court is arranging daily hearings on criminal public representatives. It has already directed the government to set up special courts for this purpose. Apart from this, many cases related to Jagan are pending in various courts in the regular court itself. So, under this new decision, already some cases are being heard today.
Many cases were registered against Jagan at the time after he came out of the Indian National Congress party in defiance of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and formed a new party. The arrest of Jagan by the CBI in the name of interrogation and his subsequent arrest and imprisonment for 16 months created a sensation at the time.
At one stage, he asked the courts to speed up the ongoing trial against him but that didn’t take place due to some political reasons. In this context, 11 cases registered by the CBI today on land allotments to Hetero and Aurobindo Pharma companies, investments in the ‘Jagati’ group, leases to Penna, Bharti, and Dalmia Cements companies, land allotments to Indu group and Van Pick companies will be heard.
Apart from these, a case registered against MR Villas, allotment of plots, Otulapuram mines lease case, and money laundering allegations related to investments made in Jagan companies are also being investigated. This is very natural for the courts to speed up investigation in these many cases unless there is some uproar and that too the subject is the Chief Minister of a state.
So, many political analysts think that the only option before AP CM Jagan is to revive his chances of joining the NDA or to get ready to face the bashing from the opposition parties in AP, most importantly from the BJP-Janasena alliance.
