Is TRS Having Second Thoughts On LRS Scheme?

The TRS Government is now in two minds as to whether to go ahead with the LRS scheme or make significant changes to win back the alienated voters. The TRS has realized that the hastily brought out LRS scheme has made the people, especially those from the middle income groups and the mid level realtors, angry.

Post-election analyses after Dubbak and GHMC debacle have shown that the LRS scheme was one of the main reasons why the diehard TRS backing voters have turned away from it and voted for the BJP. With elections for Nagarjunasagar assembly constituency, Khammam and Warangal Municipal corporations and the Graduate constituency MLC elections round the corner, the party is worried that the LRS issue could significantly damage it’s electoral prospects. The party now feels that either it should completely abolish the LRS scheme or make big changes to it to the scheme.

It is alo worried that the realtors across Telangana have drawn up an agitational programme. They have decided to send letters to the Governor and the CM protesting against the LRS on December 21. On December 22, they would do a symbolic begging on the streets to highlight their problems, On December 24, there would be a Vanta Varpu programme on the roads. On December 26, they will lay a siege to the residences of the MLCs. On Dec 28, they would hold dharnas in front of the collectorates. On December29, they would block the highways and bring the traffic to a halt.

The TRS now wants to end this whole thing by either making LRS more people friendly or by abolishing it altogether. The TRS think-tanks are busy devising an escape route.
