In a candidate assessment of his performance as the chief minister, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is learnt to have given himself only 65 percent marks.
He revealed this during the interaction with district party presidents, MLAs and regional coordinators at his camp office on Wednesday.
Stating that he had commissioned a survey on the performance of the government and the party recently, Jagan said as per the survey, his graph had shown 65 percent, while majority of the MLAs had got only 40-45 percent marks.
“If the graph of the MLAs doesn’t improve by next elections, they would have to pay the price. I will be forced to make changes in the candidates’ list. They should strive hard and take the government schemes to the people effectively,” he said.
He, however, said the performance of some of the MLAs had gone up.
“Those who don’t improve their performance will not get the tickets in the next elections. We shall remove them without any mercy,” he said.
He said the survey had revealed that the people are happy with the implementation of the welfare schemes and the overall performance of the government. But the feedback on the performance of many MLAs was not very encouraging. They should change their style of functioning, he said.
The chief minister also took a class to the old and new ministers, stating that it was their responsibility to take everybody along with them.
He also cautioned them to be wary of the opposition onslaught and the negative campaign by the media.
Jagan also told the MLAs that he would get the surveys done periodically, so that he could assess their performance from time to time.
“You should be among the people for at least 2-3 days in a week,” he said.
“The MLAs should remember one thing. Only if they secure victory to the party, they can aspire for the ministerial berths. They should work hard to win laurels,” he said.
