Kaleshwaram project is a dream of Telangana CM KCR. With thousands of crore of investment, the project was completed in over three years. For the project’s inauguration KCR invited then Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and AP CM YS Jagan. In a grand manner it was launched and then TRS party celebrated that it is the biggest boon for Telangana state.
In a new jolt to KCR, AP CM Jagan’s YSRCP government has raised objections over Kaleshwaram project and in their affidavit to Supreme Court. They appealed not to give national status to the irrigation project. AP government claimed that Kaleshwaram was re-engineered and so it is completely a new project.
Not just Kaleshwaram, the AP government also raised objections on Palamuru-Rangareddy, Dindi Lift Irrigation projects and said that they are not part of AP Bifurcation Act and don’t have approvals of Krishna Tribunal. Despite this, Telangana government is going ahead with the construction of the projects. Because of these projects, Polavaram construction and Dhavaleshwaram projects are getting affected
The AP government also blamed the union government for overlooking their pleas. “We have requested the centre to form an apex council to look into details of irrigation projects of both the states. But the union government did not do so. We request the Supreme Court to send directives to the centre to implement the AP Bifurcation Act without any hassle,” mentioned the AP government in its affidavit.
AP government filed this counter on BJP leader Ponguleti Sudharkar Reddy’s petition in Supreme Court over the implementation of Bifurcation Act in Telangana.
