Is Telangana CM KCR planning to shift out of Gajwel assembly constituency in the 2023 elections? The buzz in the TRS circles is that KCR may not contest from Gajwel, the seat from where he had won twice, in the 2023 elections. Sources say that he is likely to contest for the Lok Sabha from Medak or he might choose another assembly constituency to contest from.
In 2014, KCR had won over TDP candidate Vanteru Pratap Reddy by 10391 votes. In 2019, he again trounced Pratap Reddy by over 58200 votes. This time around, Pratap Reddy had contested on the Congress ticket. In the later development, Pratap Reddy joined the TRS and KCR made him incharge of the constituency.
Sources say that KCR wants to allow Pratap Reddy to become an MLA this time. Hence, he wants to shift to some other constituency. The buzz is that he could contest from South Telangana’s Munugode constituency. Munugode is in Nalgonda district. However, some TRS leaders say this may not happen.
They argue that KCR is likely to enter into national politics and is likely to contest for the Lok Sabha seat. He is likely to contest from Medak Lok Sabha constituency, they claim. This is also an indirect signal that KCR is likely to anoint his son KTR as the chief minister of the state, while he himself would focus on national politics.
