The ongoing political developments in YSR Congress party these days have been springing a lot of surprise on political observers.
In one such surprising development, popular Tollywood hero Akkineni Nagarjuna came to the Lotus Pond residence of YSR Congress party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday afternoon. Both Nagarjuna and Jagan had one-on-one meeting for over half an hour.
It is not exactly known what Nagarjuna had discussed with Jagan, as the senior actor left the place without talking to media.
However, enquiries revealed that both of them had discussed the political scenario in Andhra Pradesh in the wake of the forthcoming assembly elections.
There is a talk in the party circles that Jagan had asked Nagarjuna to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Guntur parliamentary constituency, presently represented by Telugu Desam Party MP Galla Jayadev, brother-in-law of hero Mahesh Babu. However, there is no confirmation yet from any side.
Though Nagarjuna had never shown any interest in politics in the past, he is said to be under pressure this time. But he has to take a call at the earliest, if he is really has any inclination.
There is also a talk that Jagan has sought the support of Nagarjuna and his fans associations to the YSRC in the coming elections.
It may be mentioned that during the by-elections to Nandyal assembly seat in 2017, All India Akkineni Nagarjuna Fans Association led by A V Rama Raju extended support to YSRC candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy. It is a different matter that Silpa had lost the elections.
It remains to be seen whether or not Nagarjuna would openly extend support to Jagan in the general elections or himself would take a plunge into politics.
In any case, Nagarjuna’s meeting with Jagan itself is being viewed as a positive signal for YSRC.
