Finally, the Telangana Jana Samithi is not going to merge either in the Aam Aadmi Party or even the Congress. Telangana Jana Samiti chief Prof Kodandaram has categorically said that the party will keep its identity and play its role in Telangana politics. He said it could enter into need-based alliances, but that there is no question of merging itself into any other party.
Of late, there have been rumours that the TJS would merge itself into the AAP. In fact, the party workers and thinkers had met at a farmhouse on the outskirts of the city to discuss the issue. However, Kodandaram staunchly opposed the proposal. In fact, it was reported that a major portion of the party cadres was in favour of merger with the AAP.
There were also rumours that TJS would merge in the Congress Party to strengthen the anti-TRS forces. However, Kodandaram has categorically stated that there was no way he would merge his party with any other party. He said there was a need to strengthen the party. He said at best the party could have alliances with like-minded parties.
Kodandaram was the chairman of the Joint Action Committee that spearheaded the movement for a separate state of Telangana. However, he was sidelined after Telangana was formed.
