In an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu demanded him to fulfil the promises made during the bifurcation and do justice to the five crore people of Andhra Pradesh. Stating the the people of AP are angry with the Prime Minister and the Central government for not fulfilling the assurances mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 along with the pending demand for Special Status to Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu Naidu also reminded the Prime Minister that just because he makes of the former stating he is a senior, it doesn’t change facts. “Modi ji, you should remember that your mockery of me is not only directed towards me. You should remember that I’m the Chief Minister of a state and I have been democratically elected by 5 crore people of my state. So, you have not only mocked me, but also the people of my state. And, this is not acceptable in a Democracy,” he stated in the letter.
In the letter, the TDP Chief also reminded him stating that Telugu Desam Party has been serving Telugu people for 1983 and people are very well aware of our actions and our service to them. “Let me remind you that your remarks and criticism of TDP and personal attacks on me bring down the status of a PM’s position and bring shame to your chair. Please remember that, within 4 years, despite winning a majority mandate in Lok Sabha in 2014 elections, you have brought down your image and have disrespected the people of this country with your sheer arrogance,” he mentioned.
Recalling the Prime Minister’s meetings during his 2014 election campaigns in Nellore, Tirupati, Madanapalle, Bhimavaram and Guntur, the Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister promised to save both the mother and child, after bifurcation. But, now it is chickening out from saving the mother and doing injustice to the state. “The Prime Minister gave only a pot of soil and water to the people of AP while he did nothing to help in the Construction of Amaravati. How can a world-class capital be built with a meagre Rs. 1500 crore sanctioned by the Centre,” he said, in the letter.
Stating that the Central government has not taken a decision on Dugarajapatnam port, Kadapa steel plant, Vizag railway zone, it has allocated meagre funds for the construction of educational institutions in the Act. “It will take 30 years to complete the construction of institutions with the kind of funds given in the last four years,” he said adding that the Centre is discriminating against Andhra Pradesh.
Reminding the Centre of its foolish and immature behaviour, the Chief Minister said in the letter that the Centre has take Rs. 350 crore back from the funds allocated to develop the backward districts of the state. “This is detrimental to the interests of the federal spirit of the Indian constitution. A Prime Minister should know the sentiments and aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh on Special Category Status,” he said.
