Actress Richa Chadha has lodged a defamation case against Payal Gosh, a news channel and Kamaal R Khan (KRK) on Bombay High Court for supposed slander campaigning against her. She has additionally seeked for Rs 1.1 crore as loss for damages caused by them. The said actor in September had blamed producer Anurag Kashyap for rape and took Richa’s name in interviews, while discussing the supposed incident.
Richa has urged an order from the court to curb them from making any such derogatory statements in the future that would malign one’s image. Additionally, Richa has also appealed to delete such videos and tweets demanding an apology on social media.
Reportedly, the case was filed by Richa through her advocate Saveena Bedi Sachar. The petition said that defamatory statements had were being made despite serving a legal notice to Payal.
After a couple of days subsequent to the interview, Richa’s lawyer gave a statement upbraiding the act of ‘falsely’ dragging Richa’s name into debates.
It had said: “Our Client ‘Ms. Richa Chadha’, condemns the act of her name being unnecessarily and falsely dragged in a derogatory manner into controversies and allegations being recently raised by third parties. Though our Client believes that genuinely wronged women should get justice at all costs, there are legislations that are intended to ensure that women have an equal standing in their workplace and to ensure that they have a cordial workplace in which their dignity and self-respect is protected.”
