In a big shock to actor-humanitarian Sonu Sood, his sister Malvika, a well-known social worker, has lost from the Moga Assembly seat.
The counting which happened for five states’ elections today proved that the magic of Sonu Sood failed to work in the Moga constituency.
Malvika had replaced incumbent Congress MLA Harjot Kamal Singh as the Congress’ candidate from Moga after Mr Singh switched to the BJP.
Interestingly, the Moga constituency is a stronghold for the Congress party as the party won six times from here, from 1977 to 2017. In 2017, Harjot Singh won the election. But this time, Malvika loses to Aam Aadmi Party’s Amandeep Kaur Arora by a huge margin of more than 20,000 votes.
Meanwhile, Mr Singh, who had switched to BJP earlier, received 10,606 votes.
