Will actress-turned-politican Vijayasanthi be the BJP candidate for the Nagarjunasagar bypolls? There is a buzz in the BJP that Vijayasanthi should be fielded as the candidate from Nagarjunasagar byelections.
Sources in the BJP has fewer choices in Nagarjunasagar. It does not have right candidates to contest the elections. Though NIvedita Reddy had contested last time, she could get just 2600 votes. Hence, there is no possibility of her being renominated this time. Anjayya Yaddav, who joined the BJP from the TDP, too has problems. His support base while he was in TDP has now vanished. Given these factors, Vijayasanthi would be the right choice, feels a section of the BJP.
They feel that Vijayasanthi’s ready identifiability, her popularity as film actress and her strong oratorical skills will help her immensely. As a Congress leader, she has contacts in Nagarjunasagar and these would be helpful for her, the BJP feels. Hence they are seriously considering whether to put her up as the candidate.
