40 TMC MLAs are in touch with me: Modi to Didi

At a rally in Hooghly district in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that 40 Trinamool Congress MLAs are in touch with him and would join the party after the BJP’s victory in Lok Sabha elections. The Prime Minister’s comments did not go down well with the Opposition parties, especially with the TMC which has said that it will take up the issue and file a complaint with the election commission.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress accused the BJP of indulging in “horse-trading” while other anti-BJP parties criticised the PM for such remarks, bringing down the dignity of the PM’s stature. “When the results come out, the lotus will start blooming and your MLAs will start leaving you. As of now, 40 of your MLAs are in touch with me. It is difficult for you to survive as you have betrayed the people of Bengal,” Modi said, while addressing the meeting.

Hitting back at Modi for such controversial remarks, TMC’s MP Derek O’Brien tweeted: “Expiry Babu PM, let’s get this straight. Nobody will go with you. Not even one councillor. Are you election campaigning or horse trading! Your expiry date is near. Today, we are complaining to the Election Commission. Charging you with horse trading #LokSabhaElection2019.”

With 10 leaders from TMC already deserting the party for the saffron party and BJP targeting a total of 23 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal, it looks like TMC is in for more trouble.
