In 45-minute-long meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AP CM YS Jagan has urged the PM for financial assistance to the cash-strapped Andhra Pradesh. Jagan has urged PM to fulfill the unfulfilled promises of bifurcation like Special Category Status and et al. Along with 22 YCP MPs, Jagan has handed over a letter full of requests. He sought Centre’s help for the linking of Godavari-Krishna rivers. In the letter, Jagan sought Centre’s financial aid to backward districts of the state. CM Jagan also asked PM for funds for the works of capital city Amaravati.
After completing the meeting with PM, Jagan has spoken to media. Jagan said he has urged the PM to allocate funds and all sort of help from the Centre to AP. Jagan Reddy has blamed previous Chandrababu Naidu’s government over Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and alleged that the previous government had done PPAs in an arbitary manner. Trying to defame Naidu in Delhi, Jagan alleged that the previous government had entered into agreements at higher costs. He said the buying limit was around 5 to 10 percent, whereas the Power bought was around 23.6 percent. And agreements were made with Pavana Power Company. Jagan further alleged that Discoms incurred losses to the tune of Rs 2654 Crore. He said the electricity distribution companies have lost Rs 7 Crore everyday.
Jagan also said he sought Centre’s support for water grid programme. He asked Centre to give SOPs to AP and tax benefits to encourage setting up of industries in AP. He also asked Centre to fasten the process on Kadapa Steel Plant and Dugarajapatnam Port.
