600 Engineers, 28,000 Polling Staff for Nizamabad Lok Sabha

Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat is the centre attraction among the Telugu states with 185 candidates being in race for the poll. Out of the 185, 178 are farmers and they have filed nomination as a mark of protest as the successive governments have failed to keep their promises. As none of the 178 farmers withdrew their nomination, it has become a tough job for Election Commission (EC) to make arrangements.

Nearly 600 engineers are working for monitoring EVMs and EC has deployed 28,000 additional staff to oversee the other procedures. In every booth there are 12 EVMs with 185 candidates names and their symbols which are connected to a single control room. The EVMs are arranged in an ‘L’ manner inside the polling booth. This is a record till date for any Parliament segment in India and EC has taken up it as a challenge.

There are over 15.53 Lakh voters under Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency and EC has provided 1788 polling booths. The polling time is schedule from 8 AM to 6 PM. Apart from this, EC has arranged a huge flexi outside every polling booth for the convenience of the voters.
