elangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s long cherished dream to install a 125 feet statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is still unfulfilled whereas his AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu is moving swiftly towards establishing a giant statue of Ambedkar in Amaravathi.
KCR first announced the installation of Ambedkar statue at Secretariat premises in Hyderabad. The TS government has already constituted a Cabinet Sub-Committee with Ministers. The team has visited China and Mizoram to study the material to be used for the construction of the statue. No progress however has been made in this direction yet.
Soon after KCR’s announcement, Naidu also followed the suit and announced to set up a statue at Amaravati. AP government is in the process of finalizing the DPR (Detailed Project Report) and getting ready to call tenders by August end.
