That is what a senior journalist wrote in his new piece in BBC Telugu, where he stated with examples, survey samples and else. And when dug deep, it looks like this business is quite lucrative.
According to the grapevine, one TV channel that looked like blowing its horns for a leading party hasn’t done that out of love or need. They are said to have taken crores of rupees as a package to do it. The prices and packages vary and offer different things like airing interviews to favoring surveys, covering good work of the aspirant to slinging mud on opponents.
While some top TV channels tried to maintain transparency in their debate programs, other mid-range channels have manipulated the debate programs too, a report says. Apparently, the piece in BBC Telugu also spoke about the way paid news is taking centre stage and how Election Commission Of India reported about that to Supreme Court Of India in their affidavit.
At the same time, newspapers that have local and district editions also said to have made crores of rupees in the recently concluded Telangana election. That’s a sad thing to see that fourth estate is selling itself.
