NTR Expelled Chandrababu but I stopped him: LP

In an interview, Lakshmi Parvathi revealed her experience of working with TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and also about the times when she first met him. She said that she met him for the first time at the TDP Party Office in Himayatnagar when a group of lecturers along with herself had meeting with TDP Founder and her late husband Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.

When we came to meet him and requested them to make our unaided college an aided one, Chandrababu asked us to give Rs. 6 lakh. “We could not pay him because our salary was only Rs. 1,500. How could we give 6 lakh,” she said, recalling her first meeting with AP Chief Minister.

“I had told Rama Rao garu about Chandrababu’s work ethic and about the amount of handwork he puts into the party. But when came to meet him. But when he asked Rs. 6 lakh, I saw both sides in him. NTR was an honest man but that did not apply to Chandrababu,” she said in the interview.

Accusing Chandrababu of stopping her wedding with NTR, Lakshmi Parvathi said that the TDP Chief blamed NTR and Lakshmi Parvathi’s wedding as being one of the reasons for Kurnool by-election loss. “That was when, NTR has expelled him from the party,” she said, adding that NTR said he will not do it in public, but asked Chandrababu to leave the party silently.

After his expulsion, “Chandrababu came to me and begged me to talk to NTR to take him back into the party,” she said, adding that it was because of her that she was the one who convinced NTR and mended ties between Chandrababu and NTR again.

“The coup against NTR was a very well-planned move. The fact that he coordinated with cadre, he had grip in the party and hence, the coup was very easy to pull off. Daggubati Venkateswara Rao wasn’t as capable as Chandrababu in terms of political strategies. Chandrababu’s experience as a minister in the Congress helped him guide NTR,” she added.
