Other day, heroine Kangana Ranaut’s much awaited historical film “Manikarnika” got released to mixed reviews. Much to the expectations of this controversy loving heroine, the film made 8.75 crores nett from Hindi, Telugu and Tamil versions on the first day. So what has this to say?
For Telugu viewers, the film is pretty flat and boring, with the narrative going in a documentary style through the film. While the first half has many loose moments where a directorial touch is missing, the second half has some good scenes. They say that the whole of the second half and climax are actually shot by Krish (and edited by him only), while the first half is carved by Kangana.
Rather herself taking the direction mantle into the hand, it would have been better if Kangana hired some other director for the film when Krish left the project. Kangana’s lack of experience in churning out a visual treat that will stimulate emotions of audiences has affected Manikarnika big time.
While Hindi version might witness growth on Saturday due to Republic Day holiday, Telugu and Tamil version might go for a complete toss as audiences here are habituated to watching better films.
