Namaste, Indian Diplomat refuses to shake hands with Pak official

Yesterday, at the International Court of Justice, Joint Secretary of Ministry of External Affairs, Deepak Mittal, refused to shake hands with Pakistan’s Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan. The two were at ICJ to attend the proceedings of Kulbhushan Jadhav case. Kulbhushan Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of terrorism back in April 2017.

Pakistan’s AG Anwar tried to shake hands with Mittal but the latter declined and responded with a customary ‘Namaste’. The picture of the same went viral on the internet. The moment is now the talk of the town. Apparently, this is not the first time. During the first hearing in Jadhav case in the Netherlands, Mittal chose the same way to greet Pakistan’s Syed Faraz Hussain Zaidi.

Netizens supported Deepak Mittal’s gesture by saying that we can’t shake hands with a terror nation. What Deepak did is like a tight slap to Pakistan and the nation is grateful for keeping Pulwama martyrs in mind. Meanwhile, the hearing in the Kulbhushan Jadhav resumes today before the International Court of Justice.
