With the perpetual high tensions between India and Pakistan after Pulwama attacks, which killed 40 CRPF jawans, has now become a reason for calling off a wedding. Mahendra Singh is an Indian groom and Chagan Kanwar is a Pakistan bride and both are supposed to tie a knot yesterday.
The groom, who had booked his train tickets, was unable to come as the train was not scheduled to leave due to the suspension of its operation by Pakistan authorities. The Thar express usually travels from Attari to Lahori on daily basis.
Mahendra Singh, while speaking to media, expressed his agony that the family has already distributed invitation cards and they struggled a lot to get visas for Pakistan. With the help of an official, they could get five visas. The couple got engaged three years ago and planned for a wedding in March 2019.
After abruptly ending the ceremony, both families have come to the conclusion that the couple would get married only when the situation normalizes. As of now, they have canceled all the plans.
