In Vizianagaram district politics, Ashok Gajapathi Raju is an undisputed king. Having got elected seven times for the assembly and once as MP, Ashok Gajapathi Raju is the face of TDP in the district. For years he led the party in the district and made sure there were no controversies.
But when he was the union minister, he stayed away from Vizianagaram politics and this is when the party went haywire. The district TDP got divided into three groups with Ashok Gajapathi Raju not being around and now with elections are approaching there are too many contenders from the party for assembly ticket.
To take back the grip of district politics, Ashok Gajapathi Raju is planning to contest as MLA once again and like so he is estimating that if TDP is back to power, he would likely to be inducted in the cabinet with a prominent portfolio.
Simultaneously Ashok Gajapathi Raju is in thoughts to rope in his daughter into mainstream politics. In case, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu denies assembly ticket for him, Ashok Gajapathi may field only his daughter for the Parliament and may stay away from elections.
Here there is a catch as well. Kishore Chandradev who recently took up yellow flag, is expected to get Araku MP ticket and if this happens Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s importance in the party would reduce. By keeping himself away from the limelight, Ashok Gajapathi Raju wants to take control of Vizianagaram TDP.
Whatever it is Ashok Gajapathi Raju who was reckoned as the number two in TDP, is finding it difficult this time.
