March is considered to be ‘bad season’ for film business in Telugu markets. However, notable small budget films and a couple of medium range films try their luck in March as April and May are reserved for biggies. This March was different though.
There isn’t a single notable film besides 118 starring Kalyan Ram. The mystery thriller that was released on the 1st of March went onto be a profitable venture for its makers. It couldn’t cash in on the void at the box office though.
Out of other films that were released in March, Raai Laxmi’s Where is the Venkata Lakshmi caught the attention of masses but couldn’t click due to substandard content.
Cheekati Gadhilo Chitakkottudu turned out to be a safe venture as its sleazy content appealed to target audience.
Controversial political film Lakshmi’s NTR released in Telangana and overseas and has done well so far. Suryakantham starring Niharika is an outright flop at the box office.
With the miserable March out of the way, trade is hoping for the April to be awesome with a notable film to come out on every weekend.
