Stop CLP Merger With TRSLP, Congress Reaches HC

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy have approached High Court over the merger of CLP with TRSLP. The Congress has won 19 seats in the assembly elections and already of half of them have joined the TRS party. The ruling party is lobbying with other Congress MLAs and is also trying to merger CLP with TRSLP.

Over this, Bhatti and Uttam have knocked the High Court doors and requested the court to consider their petition as an emergency case. Temporary chief justice Raghavendra Singh Chouhan and justice A Rajasekhar Reddy will hear the petition today. In the petition filed by Bhatti and Uttam, they urged the court to take a decision on defected MLAs and added that merger of Legislature party is under Election Commission’s hand. As per the 10th schedule, the assembly speaker has no right to take a decision on merger of Legislature party.

Bhatti and Uttam brought the merger of Legislature Council to the notice of High Court and claimed that it is against the Indian constitution. They also mentioned in the petition that the speakers of assembly and council are not considering their complaints and so High Court should send directives to them to take a call on the MLAs who have defected from Congress to TRS.
