TRS bounces back, makes clean sweep in MLC polls!

The ruling TRS in Telangana which suffered electoral jolt in recent Lok Sabha polls by losing seven Lok Sabha seats to BJP and Congress bounced back today in the MLC elections held for Ranga Reddy, Warangal and Nalgonda seats under local bodies quota.

The TRS bagged all the three seats with a bumper majority defeating Congress with a huge margin.

In Warangal, TRS candidate Pochampally Srinivas Reddy secured 848 votes while the Congress candidate Kommuri Prathap Reddy was polled just 23 votes. With this, Srinivas Reddy won with a big majority of 825 votes.

In Nalgonda, TRS candidate Thera Chinnapa Reddy defeated Komatireddy Laxmi Reddy, wife of Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy with a majority of 226 votes. Though Komatireddy brothers campaigned extensively for her, she was polled 414 votes while Chinnapa Reddy secured 640 votes.

The recent win of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from Bhongir Lok Sabha seat did not help Congress to win this MLC seat.

In Ranga Reddy, TRS candidate Patnam Mahender Reddy won with a majority of 244 votes against Congress candidate Prathap Reddy. Mahender Reddy, who lost recent Assembly polls to Congress, avenged his defeat.

Mahender Reddy secured 510 votes, while Prathap Reddy got just 266 votes.

TRS making a clean sweep in MLC polls has come as a breather for KCR and KTR as some media organisations and political observers concluded that the fall of TRS has begun in Telangana with the Lok Sabha results.

The latest results prove that TRS continues to remain unbeatable in elections.

Though TRS won 9 out of 16 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, it was viewed by critics and political analysts as TRS defeat as it lost four seats to BJP and three seats to Congress.

TRS along with MIM bagged 10 seats out of 17 Lok Sabha seats recently.
