New Zealand has recorded its first victory in the bilateral series against India. The hosts won the first ODI played at Hamilton and they chased a massive target of 348 runs. Ross Taylor scored a matching winning ton and this is the Blackcaps second biggest victory while chasing and first against India.
Team India was asked to bat first after losing toss. Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal made their ODI debut for India but they did not make a good start. They were dismissed in quick succession but captain Kohli and Shreyas Iyer build the partnership. Iyer has brought up his maiden ton while Lokesh Rahul who stepped into the crease at number five batsman, score a half century. India posted a total of 347 runs in 50 overs.
New Zealand started off well but two wickets put the BlackCaps back in hunt. But Taylor along with Tom Latham kept the scorecard running. Finally the Kiwis chased the target with 11 balls to spare. They go one up in the three match series.
Ross Taylor is rewarded with Man of the Match award.
