The President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden will take the oath as the country’s 46th President on January 20, 2021. This has been the date of the swearing-in since 1937 when Franklin D Roosevelt took the vow of office for his second term.
As soon as occupying the chair, Joe Biden plans to reveal a sweeping immigration bill on Day One of his presidency, expecting to give an eight-year path to citizenship for an approximated 11 million people living in the US without legal status.
Expected to run hundreds of pages, the bill is set to be introduced after Joe Biden takes the oath Wednesday, according to a reliable source.
As per reports, under the legislation, those living in the US as of Jan. 1, 2021, without legal status would have a five-year path to provisional legal status, or a green card, if they pass all the basic requirements. From there, it’s a three-year path to grounding, if they decide to pursue citizenship.
