Marriage is a memorable event for all. It is a process of selecting a partner for the rest of the life. Parents spend a major share of their savings on their childrens weddings. India is among the nations in the world that make heavy expenditures on marriages.
The happiness of marrying did not last too long for a person as the marriage landed in a big controversy. Saying that the marriage caused a non-cognizable offence a case was slapped against a person. Sadly days after his much-talked-about marriage a case has been filed with the concerned Police.
Going into details, one Atul who hails from Maharashtra’s Solapur recently tied the knot. But his marriage is in the news as he married two girls at a time who happens to be sisters and twins. The pictures of the wedding took social media by storm.
The interesting fact is that both families agreed to the wedding and arrangements were made. But the wedding went to the notice of the concerned police after an activist complained. Polygamy became illegal in India in 1956 for Hindus and men cannot have two wives.
As the issue is a non-cognizable offence, it needs approval and permission from the court to launch a probe into the matter. The concerned cops knocked on the doors of the court to seek permission to go ahead with the probe and the court is yet to give the order as per the media reports.
The person who is identified as Atul is from Akluj taluka of Solapur district while the twin sisters belong to a suburb. The wedding ceremony was held in the Akluj area. The locals were shocked to see two sisters marrying the same person that too with the consent of both families.
It is said that the twin sisters are very close to each other and don’t want to stay away after getting married. For the same reason, the twin sisters decided to tie the knot with the same person so that they can stay together.
Talking about the polygamy angle, usually, the first wife raised issues with the second marriage of their husband. Her complaint becomes the main point. As both sisters agreed, the issue is a complicated one.
