Amaravati farmers divided; A group meets CM Jagan

Seems like there is a split in Amaravati farmers who are protesting against the ‘Three Capitals.’ On Tuesday a group of farmers landed in New Delhi and met Vice President Venkaiah Naidu while another group met none other than AP CM YS Jagan.

Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy and another MLA Undavalli Sridevi have reached out to Amaravati farmers and arranged a meeting with CM Jagan. Late evening on Tuesday, a few farmers met Jagan at his camp office and after this meeting, they seems to have changed their mind and got convinced with Jagan’s ‘Three Capitals.’

To the farmers, CM Jagan clarified that Vizag will be the capital and added that Amaravati is not an ideal for capital city. To develop infrastructure in Amaravati, it would cost around Rs 2000 crore and currently the state’s financial status is very weak and can’t afford it. Jagan also informed the farmers that the previous TDP government spent Rs 5674 crore on Amaravati and about Rs 2297 crore worth bills are pending. Only ten percent of one lakh crore is needed for Vizag and the kids of this and next generation would have many opportunities in future.

Yet Jagan assured that he would develop Mangalagiri into a model municipality and for that the government would allot Rs 1100 crore for it. Also the Jagan said if roads are laid in Amaravati, the land rates would go up and it is up to the farmers to do agriculture or sell it for a better price.
