AP Liquor sale Day 1: Bigger than Baahubali

As a part of the relaxations given by the Centra government in Lockdown 3.0, the Andhra Pradesh government sold liquor yesterday in almost all over the state and made a fortune out of it.

It is known that Jagan’s government has decided to sell the booze in all red zone areas except the containment clusters and that worked in their favour quite fascinatingly as yesterday’s revenue from the liquor sales crossed the Day 1 collections of might Baahubali.

The AP government has got 45 crores from the liquor sales yesterday and it is way bigger than the Baahubali collection on Day 1 on AP/TG which is 43 crores. We are talking about the revenue through liquor sales in Andhra Pradesh only and that means it crossed the Baahubali collections by a huge margin.

To be serious, this whooping amount is due to the government’s decision to raise liquor prices by 25 percent as it prepares to open retail liquor stores run by the government-owned AP Beverages Corporation.

They made this move to help raise some revenues quickly at a time when other revenue streams are expected to take time to get back to the normal levels under the phased lifting of lockdown restrictions.

Remember, AP government announced in October 2018 that they opted for phased prohibition of alcohol in the state.
