As Indian government revoked Article 370 which has given certain special powers to Jammu and Kashmir all these days including that of a separate flag, preventing outsiders from buying land and voting in an election, there is a lot of ruckus on social media now.
As J&K got bifurcated into Union territory of J&K and Union territory of Ladakh, there are those who raised the cries like #SaveDemocracy and there are those who felt that this decision will help the upliftment of Kashmiris. But then, another section of netizens felt that this is Narendra Modi style slap to US President Donald Trump. Wonder why?
Recently Trump has commented in the presence of Pak PM Imran Khan that PM Modi asked him to meditate on the Kashmir issue. Later USA government officials clarified that their country will be only playing an aggregator but won’t poke into affairs of India and Pak, which they should resolve themselves. There was an uproar in the Indian parliament then, with the opposition demanding PM Modi to clarity about Trump’s comment.
While BJP’s Foreign Minister refuted Trump’s comments, till date Modi hasn’t uttered a word about it. And now that Indian government has locked down Kashmir and revoked ARticle 360, surely that is a slap like a reply to Trump, as it clearly says that Modi wants to settle thing in his own style, but not through USA’s intervention.
