Looks like the Andhra Pradesh Police has ruffled quite a few feathers in Telangana with their immediate arrival in Hyderabad, after cases were filed against IT Grids employees. Now, the Telangana government has take this fight very personally. The GHMC which claimed that AP DGP R.P. Thakur has encroached upon a Park in Prashasan Nagar and constructed his house there, demolished that portion of the house, located in Jubilee Hills.
The Telangana High Court which took up the case for hearing reprimanded the GHMC for being insensitive in taking up demolition with just a 24-hour notice. “How can you take up demolition within 24 hours? According to the Supreme Court, 1 week time is given to the respondent. We have asked you to be reasonable not insensitive,” said a Bench of Justices dealing with the petition filed by the AP DGP, following this GHMC action.
The GHMC’s action comes just two days after AP Police landed on the doorstep of T. Lokeswara Reddy, who had alleged that data of AP voters was being used by a private company. The High Court ordered a status quo in the case and said “people accused in heinous crimes are given at least a week’s time to appear or respond. How can the GHMC think that 24 hours is enough,” the bench questioned the GHMC’s laxity.
Earlier too, GHMC demolished film actor Prabhas’ farm house without giving necessary notices, for which his counsel had approached the High Court for GHMC’s missteps.
Interestingly, this interference of AP Police has clearly shocked the Telangana government which is ensuring that it does everything to hit the morale of those supporting or following the Telugu Desam Party. The demolition has also shocked many in the political circles as that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s interference in AP’s elections is becoming evident day by day.
