India Registers Record Cases After Long Gap!

It appears that the Covid scare is not going to India any time soon. Every time we think the situation is under control we see a big shock. We have seen this during the previous waves of the Covid outbreak. Yet again the Covis cases saw a big spike. After a long time, India registered record single-day cases triggered by Covid.

In the past 24 hours, more than 10,000 fresh cases were recorded in India. The data shared by the Union Ministry says that as many as 10158 new cases were registered. After a long gap of over six months, the new cases were registered in big numbers and crossed the 10k mark. The new infections were recorded after 229958 Covid detection tests were done across the nation. With this, the positivity rate increased and currently stands at 4.42 percent. The recovery rate of the virus in India is 98.71 percent.

The covid cases are on a rise in India for the past few weeks. Earlier we say 2,000 cases recording every day. But the record was also broken as the single-day cases crossed the massive 10,000 mark. This shows that the situation is tense and everyone needs to be alert.

Seeing the steady growth in the cases, the union government earlier chaired a meeting with the health officials of the states and union territories and issued some directives on how to take measures and precautions. They were asked to conduct mock drills as well.

Since the inception of the virus, the Omicron variant has been ringing dangerous bells across the world, not just in India. At regular intervals, the sub-variants of the variant are coming out to make the virus a tough one to crack.

Talking about the current situation, the XBB.1.16 variant of the virus is driving the virus spread in the country. A few experts say that the new sub-variant is the reason behind the sudden spike in single-day cases.

Earlier the WHO said that the virus is the reason behind the spike in cases across the globe. The symptoms of the sub-variant are sore throat, body pain, headaches, and abdominal discomfort.
